Mary Bergeson Obituary
Mary Ann Bergeson, 95, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 11:15 AM, Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2025, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Eric Carlson will officiate.
Friends and Family are invited to Mary Ann's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, November 13, 2025, Thursday, at the funeral home.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Mary Ann was born April 14, 1930, in Geneva, IL to Frank Leroy Anderson and Esther Marie Swanson Anderson.
She was married to Richard "Dick" Bruce Bergeson on July 7, 1951, in Geneva, IL. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Survivors include her two sons, Jim Bergeson (Kathy) of New London, MO and Glen Bergeson (Kim) of New London, MO; four grandchildren, Meghan Rothweiler (Jim), Emily Royal (Dustin), Aaron Bergeson (Natalee), and Andrew Bergeson (Erica); eight great grandchildren, Layton, Kate, Brody, Jensen, Luke, Quinn, Jaynee, and Brayton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Irving Anderson; and two nieces, Jennifer Koenig and Barbara Shue.
Mary Ann was a homemaker. An avid sports enthusiast, Mary Ann loved watching the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Mary Ann loved playing golf and being on the golf course. Her hole-in-one at the American Legion Golf Course at the age of 65 was a proud moment. Mary Ann was on several Bridge Leagues and was also fond of playing games with friends; Farkle, Dominoes, Scrabble, and all types of card games just to name a few. She had a great love of reading and completing crossword puzzles.
In the kitchen, Mary Ann was a culinary artist, known for her delicious fried chicken, creamy mashed potatoes, and heartwarming clam chowder.
A proud woman of Swedish descent, Mary Ann honored her heritage by attending her family's traditional Swedish Christmas Eve celebrations. These gatherings were a highlight of the year, where the warmth of family and the joy of tradition.
Above all, Mary Ann's heart belonged to her family. She was a devoted spectator as a at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events, her presence a constant source of encouragement and pride. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Ann was Lutheran by faith and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hannibal, MO. Active in her church, Mary Ann was a member of the Lutheran's Women's Guild.
