Mary Catherine "Cathy" Epperson, 72, of New London, MO, passed away at 4:00 AM, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her home in New London, MO.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Tom Day will officiate. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London.
Friends and Family are invited to Cathy's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Cathy was born June 22, 1952, in Hannibal, MO to John E. Bogue Sr. and Ann Strode Bogue.
She was married to Don Epperson on November 27, 1975, at the First Christian Church in New London, MO. He survives. Other survivors include her son, Mark Epperson (Mandy) of New London, MO; two brothers, John Bogue Jr. (Kay), and Mark S. Bogue (Jeanne); two sisters, Dee Ann Shipley and Barb Stanley (Thad); five grandchildren, Bret Daniel Epperson (Sara Carter), Gaven Craig Epperson (Maggy Otten), Coleman Daniel Epperson (Kadence), Ty Patrick-Wayne Epperson (Emma McKellips), and Nolan Allen Epperson; brothers and sisters-in-law; Stephen Bogue, Roy Lee Epperson (Judy), Mary Lou Nutt (David), Richie Epperson (Peggy), Martha Sue White, and Carla Rae Sutter (Tim); and many special nieces and nephews.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Timothy Craig Epperson, and Adam Coleman Epperson; one sister, Milly Bogue; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Daisy Epperson.
Cathy was an educator for most of her professional career teaching at the elementary school level for the Ralls County, MO RII School District. Retiring after 24 years of teaching, Cathy loved to teach reading to her students.
Cathy loved to read, she especially enjoyed mysteries. Writing poetry was a hobby that Cathy cherished expressing her feelings and creativity. Working in the yard caring for her flower gardens brought Cathy joy, she always loved to see her Black Eyed Susans bloom. Scrapbooking, the sounds of Johnny Mathis and heading up the planning for the annual "Cousins Camp" were some of Cathy's favorites. Watching her son coach football or her grandsons compete in their sports activities brought a smile to Cathy's face. A strong supporter of Mark Twain Tiger sports, Cathy especially loved the football team. She always cherished the times shared with her family and friends. Cathy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cathy's grandsons: Bret Epperson, Gaven Epperson, Coleman Epperson, Ty Epperson, Nolan Epperson and her brother-in-law, Stephen Bogue.
