Sharon Irwin Obituary
Sharon Kay Irwin, age, 81 of Barry, IL passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born on December 10, 1943, in Granite City, IL to Glen and Katherine (Inskip) Vaughn. She married Gearld Irwin on April 4, 1963, in Quincy, IL and he preceded her in death.
Sharon worked at the Master Tank Factory in various departments throughout the factory. She later worked at the Sunset Home in housekeeping and also did cleaning at Tiny's Tavern. Sharon enjoyed cooking and made the best fried chicken. She loved listening to Loretta Lynn on her front porch and singing duets with her son. She was also a big Elvis fan. She loved her God and her time spent going to church. Sharon lived with her daughter until she had to go to Liberty Village. Most of all she loved her family and raised more kids than her own. She was lovingly called Memaw or Mamaw by her grandkids and she was the most loving and caring person you could have known. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Sharon is survived by her children, John (Annette) Irwin of Barry, IL and Carrie Sutton of Barry, IL; grandchildren, Matt Sutton, Adam Sutton, Kayla Sutton, Tasha Irwin, Kendra Cox, Jessica Irwin, Cheyenne Erke; great grandchildren, Jordan Johnson, Michelle Cox, Brogan Cox, Allie Hernandez, Ava Hernandez, Bobby Romero, Jax Erke, Max Erke, T.J. DeWolf, Rynn Erke, and Isaiah Romero; siblings, Melvin (Bev) Vaughn and Carrie Miller; and many nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Katherine Vaughn; husband, Gearld Irwin; daughter, Teresa Jean Stewart; granddaughters, Adreana 'Kickstart' McCullom and Laurina Hernandez; great grandchild, Blakelynn; siblings Glen Vaughn, Floyd Vaughn, Robert Vaughn, Charles Vaughn, Jim Vaughn, Dovey Vaughn, Treava Nieder, Louise Powell, Norma Marcum, Betty Jackson, Howard Vaughn; son-in-law Walter Sutton.
Services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL with visitation prior to the service from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
