Steven Burdette Obituary
Steven Michael "Mike" Burdette, 70, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away recently on his final great adventure, a cruise to Alaska, with his beloved wife, Linda, by his side. He passed away at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
An adventurous and loving man, Mike was born on September 24, 1954, in Keokuk, to Darrell Dean Sr. and Eva Lois Bryant Burdette. He graduated from Keokuk High School in 1974. On November 23, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Ramsey, and they shared an incredible bond for nearly 51 years. Mike was a devoted husband and a wonderful father to their two sons, Steve and Aaron, who now carry on his role of caring for their mother.
A man of great faith, Mike was deeply involved with the New Testament Christian Church. He dedicated his time to missionary work, teaching junior worship, VBS, and Sunday School. With his sons, he was always ready to lend a helping hand, assisting with moving, repairing drywall, and maintaining the church grounds.
Mike lived life to the fullest. He and Linda loved to travel, but his spirit of adventure was perhaps best captured in 1972 when he and his classmate and teacher, Bob Campana, built a raft and journeyed down the Mississippi River to St. Louis. Mike was also an avid NASCAR fan, especially enjoying the Richard Petty Driving Experience and racing with his son Aaron in the car they built.
He was employed by Alliant Energy until his retirement on June 1, 2012, and was a member of the IBEW Union.
Mike is survived by his wife, Linda Burdette; his two sons, Steven Michael Burdette Jr (Adrienne) of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and Aaron Michael Burdette (Elizabeth) of Keokuk and five grandchildren, Gabriel Michael, Alex, Angel, Anna, and Owen. He is also survived by his siblings, Dean Burdette, Rose Woodard, Mary Nagel (Howard) and David Burdette, all of Keokuk.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Brian, and Carroll Burdette.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with Pastor Derek Olsen officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the funeral home, with family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund at New Testament Christian Church.
