Theresa Wellman Obituary
Theresa "TJ" Wellman, 53, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
TJ was born March 4, 1972, in Quincy, IL to Terry and Diana (Akers) Christ. TJ graduated from Quincy High School in 1990, and her zest for life led her to a fulfilling career as a school bus driver for Early Childhood Education, a role she cherished for over a decade. Her dedication to the children and families she served was a testament to her caring nature.
On March 12, 1998, TJ married the love of her life, Steven Wellman, in Las Vegas, NV. Their union was a partnership of love, laughter, and mutual respect. Though Steven sadly preceded her in death just a year before her own passing, their family finds solace in the belief that TJ and Steven are now reunited in eternal peace.
TJ's legacy lives on through her four children, Thomas J. (Beth), Lucas M. (Lindsey), Gage T. (Jamie), and Layla Stevee, all of whom reside in Quincy. Her five grandchildren, Alice, Cyrus, Andi, Cora Jane, and Adilyn, will forever cherish the memories and lessons their grandmother imparted. TJ is also survived by her brother, Jerry Lee Christ (Amanda), and a host of relatives who will continue to honor her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband.
A woman of many passions, TJ's interests were as diverse as they were delightful. She was an avid Harley rider, relishing the freedom of the open road on countless road trips. Christmas was a season of joy for TJ, who transformed her home into a winter wonderland with up to seven Christmas trees and a collection of holiday classics that she revisited annually. Her passion for the Green Bay Packers was as steadfast as her commitment to her personal style, which included impeccably maintained nails-a craft she honed at cosmetology school during her younger years. TJ's culinary skills were renowned, especially her lasagna, which became a family favorite. Her baking and candy making brought sweetness to every gathering.
Above all, TJ cherished time spent with loved ones. She was the heart of every party, whether hosting summer swims, bonfire nights, or creating unforgettable moments on trips to Destin, Florida. Her giving nature knew no bounds, always striving to bring happiness to those around her. The image of TJ watching the snowfall with a content smile will be a comforting memory for all who knew her.
