Wilma Carpenter Obituary
Wilma Luth Carpenter, 100, of Hull, IL, passed away at 10:59 PM, Friday, October 17, 2025, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Tabernacle of Praise in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Michael Neff will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hannibal, MO.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Wilma was born August 17, 1925, in Burlington, IA to Walter Luth and Adella Timmerman Luth.
She was married to James Carpenter on January 6, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Survivors include her four children, Vicki Kaufman (Donald) of Quincy, IL, Rose Marie Stark of Quincy, IL, Terry Carpenter of East Hannibal, MO, and Cindy Wellman of Barry, IL; two sisters, Eilleen Watson of Memphis, TN, and Selma Mace of Burlington, IA; nine grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Gene Carpenter; son-in-law, Arthur W. Wellman; great grandson, Austin Stark; sis-in-law, Pauline Shinn; and three brothers-in-law, Bob Shinn, Dick Mace, and Dan Watson.
Wilma began her working career at a Cookie Factory and Bakery in Burlington, IA, where she met her future husband, James! She also worked for Motorola in Quincy, IL, in housekeeping at Levering Hospital, and later as a caretaker in area group homes.
Wilma also owned and operated an antique store with her husband in Hannibal, MO in the 1970's.
As an avid gardener, Wilma took pride in tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. One of her favorite hobbies was attending auctions and flea markets; especially Rutledge Flea Market. Wilma was known for her delicious homemade noodles, bread, and dinner rolls that were often requested by her family and friends. Wilma was a woman of God and frequently read her Bible and shared her faith. Above all, Wilma treasured her family and the moments they spent together.
Wilma served on the Riverside Cemetery Board in Hannibal, MO for over 10 years.
Wilma was a member of Tabernacle of Praise Church in Hannibal, Mo. She was previously a member and Sunday School teacher at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Quincy, IL
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Kaufman, Scott Kaufman, Robbie Wellman, Jim Stark, Ryan Stark, Cameron Stark, and Brittany Fazio.
