Charles Lacombe Obituary
Charles ("Chuck") Lacombe of Haverhill, died Friday, September 26th at the age of 61 and just three weeks shy of his birthday. Chuck was born the fifth of eight children, into a spirited tribe of a family. Born to Beverly and Charlie Lacombe, Chuck arrived two months early and made an unforgettable entrance with a police escort speeding to the hospital. At just over three pounds, family lore says he was small enough to fit in a shoebox-one they kept warm with their loving arms.
Chuck arrived into a family still holding heartache from the loss of his eldest brother, Steven. His presence was a balm and a spark - quickly growing into a boy with a mischievous spirit and a sharp wit. Loyalty defined Chuck as much as his pranks. When his brothers walked the streets, any conflict would pause at the mention of his name-because Chuck was a guardian at heart, fearless and steady.
His life was a mosaic of experiences, with days spent boating, camping and canoeing, but also sprinkled with his talents. He helped his father build a house in Harrison, Maine with his own skilled hands. The two first-time house builders produced a gorgeous gambrel enjoyed by the family as a vacation home for many years. He had a lifelong knack for rescuing dogs in need, nurturing them toward safer futures. He frequently saved all sorts of critters in trouble, regardless of the hour of the day or night. But above all, Chuck's deepest pride and joy was his daughter, Lauren. In every photo of Chuck over the course of his years, the widest smiles are those he shared immediately upon her arrival. His happiness was rooted in her every accomplishment, big and small, as proof of a proud and unwavering love. He was the first to admit that she was his best and brightest success in this life.
Chuck's story is of a heart that beat loudly, evenly-and never without love. He leaves us now with sadness but sustained by many good memories.
Chuck now joins his loving mother, Beverly Lacombe and his brother Steven in heaven. To mourn his passing, he leaves behind his daughter, Lauren Ward, his longtime companion and mother to his child, Tracy Ward, his father, Charles E. Lacombe, his sister, Katherine Radford and her husband Bruce, his brother William Lacombe and his partner, Joanne Downey, his sister, Sharon Van Hecke and her husband, Kevin, his sister, Cheryl Angelo and her husband, Paul, his brother, Michael Lacombe and his wife, Krissy, and his brother James Lacombe. Chuck also leaves a wide number of loving nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
We promise to keep his memory alive and safe in our hearts as one of our longstanding tribe, and to cherish and safeguard his daughter.
