Elaine Woodburn Obituary
Haverhill: Elaine M. (Doucette) Woodburn, 99, a native and lifelong resident of the City of Haverhill, died peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, October 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Condon) Doucette, she attended St. Gregory's Grammar School. A member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1944, she then graduated from McIntosh Business School.
As a young woman, Elaine was a member of the Commonwealth Figure Skating Club in Boston. She was also an avid roller skater, excelling in both Pairs and Singles, and was a recipient of a bronze medal in competition. She took dancing lessons from Ruth Parker, a well known Haverhill Dance Teacher, later becoming her assistant.
Elaine was employed as a Comptometer Operator in the Accounting Department of Western Electric Co. Haverhill for 10 years.
A member of Sacred Hearts Parish, she was an avid reader, and enjoyed doing and teaching yoga. She became a member of the Yoga Teachers of America and taught for 25 years.
The wife of the late William G. Woodburn and mother of the late William G. Woodburn, Jr., Elaine will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by a daughter Susan E. Collins of Deer Lodge, TN and a daughter and son-in-law Lisa W. and Walter E. Holst of Cumming, GA, grandchildren Kristina E. Elleby and her husband Bryce, Eric W. Knecht and Hannah K. Holst; two great-grandchildren, Ryker M. and Ascher L. Elleby; her sister Claire L. Langley of Bradford and her family; Lynne Whitt, her husband Glen, and her son Hunter, all of TX, Joseph Amirault, his wife, Debbie, his sons Patrick and Michael all of OH, Jayne O'Brien, wife of the late Kevin O'Brien and their daughters Meaghan and Lauren of Haverhill, a niece Nancy Connell and her husband Tim of FL, a nephew, Donald Woodburn and his fiancée Luann Sawyer of NH, her son-in-law, Jimmie Collins of NH, a special cousin, Sue Northam of North Andover and her family, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Christmas Holidays were very special to Elaine, a family and friends gathering on Christmas Eve, capped off with a New Years Day tradition of having a French Canadian dish called "Rappie Pie."
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral service will be at 12:15 p.m. in the funeral home and followed by burial in Walnut Cemetery, Haverhill.
