Janet King Obituary

Janet Morrow King Obituary HAVERHILL - Janet passed over on Monday, June 17, 2024. She left behind a life of singing for others, educating young singers, and a desire to nourish the Heart. Recently, she served as Director of an after-school arts program for under-served children at Trinity Episcopal Church in Haverhill, MA. This followed a twenty-four year career as Associate Professor of Voice at Colorado State University. Before arriving in Fort Collins with her newly earned Doctor of Musical Arts, guided by Clifton Ware at The University of Minnesota, she sang full time for four years in state and city opera houses in Regensburg and Linz, Germany. David and Maura, her spouse of thirty-eight years and daughter, join those who knew her in missing her gentle touch and integrity. Arrangements by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill. I just saw that Dr. Janet passed away, I was so sad to hear this news. My daughter went to the ACT program for many summers and she always said how kind Dr. Janet was.
Thinking of her family and wishing them peace and memories of a life well lived

I am so sorry to hear of Janet´s passing, she was a tremendous colleague and so giving. I was fortunate to work with her in Music, Theatre, and Dance at CSU, and she did so much to build the reputation and strength of the School of MTD. Janet was kind, generous, brilliant, and had a great sense of humor. She respected all disciplines and engaged with faculty and students in all three areas. I really appreciated her strength and wisdom and experience. She made a great impact on many lives. Sincerely, Jane Slusarsk-Harris

Such sad, sad news to hear about the passing of Janet. We worked together at St Paul´s, Fort Collins, CO and again working with marginalized families in a program called Circles. Janet was a kind, loving and dedicated friend that made a difference in this world. My condolences to David and Maura. Jacki Petrino

I am so sorry to hear of Janet's passing. During my undergraduate studies at CSU I was so appreciative of Janet's dedication to her students and her attendance and feedback following my recital was such a gift. She will be missed and I hope that this note brings some comfort to her family.

I'm extremely saddened to learn of Janet's passing. Although she informed me in January of her illness, including surgery, she remained hopefully realistic. She was an accomplished singer, teacher, and scholar, as well as an intelligent, empathetic human being. Her physical presence will be missed by a host of persons who knew her, especially her husband, David, and daughter, Maura, but her spirit will endure in our hearts and thoughts.

She was the only voice teacher that understood my voice and worked with it instead of shoving it in a box and lopping off the parts that didn't fit. I'm only sorry that I didn't find her until my senior year. She was strict but loving, demanding the best anyone could be and beyond. I'm so grateful to her and she will be missed

Dearest David and Maura, I am so very sad to hear this news. I had just sent her a Happy Birthday wish for today.
She was my friend. We had great talks and and I were close as you know.
Janet and John Lueck were a great pair in helping me to become a good singer so many years ago. She was a fine person. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love to you both,
Ginger Martin
