Jeannette Ellis Obituary
Jeannette Lavoie Ellis, the finest freshest frenchie you'll ever meet. MJ as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her. MJ grew up in a time when life wasn't tv, video games or sitting in front of a rectangle. She was never one to ever get the hang of a text. She spent the end of her life in the loving embrace of her grandson, his wife and their children. MJ taught her grandson how to drive. She also taught her great grandchildren many different things. She shared her family recipes and her many lifelong stories with them. She loved to listen to the kids play together and laugh. The stories and memories of her childhood will be wonderful tales her great grandchildren will get to tell their children. She had an incredible spin on life and was the true master of an introvert.
She was born in Lewiston, ME, November 14, 1935. As an only child she spent most of her childhood with her grandmother and grandfather, Benjamin and Delphine Levasseur. She loved them very much. She grew up in Winslow, Maine. Living her adult life in Webster Springs, WV, Saugus, Lynn, Haverhill, No. Andover and finally in Dracut, all of MA.
As her family, we were incredibly lucky to make sure we got to spend her last days with her. Staying in a home, or being without her family, would have been detrimental.
In her beginnings she graduated high school. Shortly thereafter becoming an Xray tech. She traveled and experienced life as a student, X-ray tech, helper, and friend.
She readily enjoyed the Boston Bruins, even getting to see the cup on an impromptu trip through Michigan in 2017. Her great grandsons knew what that cup would mean to her and surprised her with it upstairs in a restaurant we visited. One of her favorite memories, she would talk about it often. Her husband and her even having season tickets at the beginning of their lives together.
She had a real amazing love for her first house. A kitchen that was any woman's dream. Filled with incredible cabinets and a wonderful place to raise her daughters. Her husband Walter, being a wonderful man in the Saugus, MA community. He enjoyed buying her new cars and having gatherings in their home. She spent a portion of her life as a single mom, during a time when that wasn't so popular but she never could fill the shoes of her wonderful Walter.
MJ was able to do a fair amount of traveling at the end of her life. Montreal, Canada (2017), Road tripping Canada (2017), Michigan (2017), Niagara Falls (2017, 2024), Orlando (2018), Galveston, Texas (2024), 17 States (2024), Williamsburg, Virginia (2022, 2024), 20 States (2025), Carlsbad Caverns (2025), the Grand Canyon (2025), Mt Zion (2025), Four Corners (2025), Las Vegas (2025). She actually traveled in many different caverns throughout the United States. All in a wheelchair, enjoying as much as her eyes would let her see. Caverning with her family was a true joy. She enjoyed experiencing the different wonders America has to offer.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle McCauley and husband John McCauley as well as her daughter Renee Ellis. She had three grandchildren. Kayleigh McCauley-Sawyer, her wife Rachel Sayer, and their sweet little "Ben". Staci McCauley and her daughter "Ellis Jean". Her only grandson Dylan McCauley and his wife Hollis Ellis McCauley and their four children AJ Letizia, Parker McCauley, Harleigh McCauley, and Bryar McCauley. MJ spent a lot of her free time with Dylan and his family. Having her great grandchildren be a part of her daily life gave her lots of happiness. She loved her Will. He would be fondly remembered in many stories and tales of his young life.
She is predeceased by her husband Walter Winthrop Ellis, II. Walter was a wonderful man. She would often refer to him as the "man who would help anyone." He did a lot of good in his life. She never remarried after his death in 1971. Her great grandson, Cross Letizia, son of Hollis and Dylan McCauley. He would also make sure every store was a "wild ride" for her. Spending time watching Bruins playoffs, Patriot Super bowls, and having her come to his school sports were often ways they formed their bond.
In true MJ fashion, she is not interested in a service. Her family was lovingly with her, by her side, in her passing, and will finalize burial plans when the time is right. She will be buried next to her husband Walter who will be in between two Jeannette's. She thought that was the best thing ever! Getting to visit his grave and that of her family's was something she truly enjoyed.
In closing, We love you big as the sky, bigger then outer space, bigger than infinity, bigger than infinity and beyond, bigger then anybody in the whole entire world. I love you more then Parker, Mom, Dad, Bryar, and Duke. I love you, I'll see you tomorrow morning. I love you, Goodnight.
