Josephine M. Murphy

Haverhill: Josephine Mary (Coltraro) Murphy, 83, a longtime resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Lakeview House, following an extended illness. Born and raised in Methuen, and daughter of the late Antonio and Lena (Pappalardo) Coltraro, Josephine attended schools in Methuen and was a member of the Tenny Memorial High School Class of 1960. Josephine was first employed at the Internal Revenue Service for several years and later for ten years at Western Electric Co. and A.T. & T. Technologies, until her retirement in 1991. A member of the Communication Workers of America, Josephine was an avid reader and fan of horror movies and enjoyed taking walks, trips to the beach and vacations in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Predeceased in 1994 by her husband, Lee A. "Sonny" Murphy, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons, Anthony Murphy and his wife Karen of Fremont, NH, Lee A. Murphy, Jr., of Haverhill, and Kenneth Murphy and his wife Sarah of Haverhill; a daughter Lisa Nadeau and her husband Norman of Bradford, a sister Lucy Scanlon of South Lawrence; twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Murphy and Louise Loring and her best friend Ruth Srybny. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral service will follow at 7:15 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial services will be private for the family in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow.
