Richard Goudreault Obituary
Atkinson: Richard E. "Dick" Goudreault, 91, a former longtime resident of Plaistow, and the former owner of Goudreault Farm, died peacefully on Friday morning, October 10, 2025, at Exeter Hospital, with his devoted and loving wife, Lucine, by his side.
Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late Eugene and Ann Marie (German) Goudreault, he attended local schools and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1951. Dick worked on the family farm located on Broadway in Haverhill as a young man and developed his lifelong passion for farming.
In 1962, he and his wife made the decision to purchase a farm on Route 108 in Plaistow, which became known as The Goudreault Farm for the next fifty-six years. It was a dairy and agricultural farm with a reputation for growing the best produce, especially the corn that people drove for miles to be able to enjoy. A farm stand was added, and in 1982 they built the Goudreault Greenhouses, again noted for the best flowers available in the area. Dick was not just a farmer. To operate the farm properly, he learned to develop all the necessary skills needed. He learned veterinary skills to care for the cows, pigs, sheep, and horses, as well as perfecting his knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical repair. He also developed mechanical skills to maintain the farm equipment, and whatever other knowledge he needed to perform the daily chores to keep the farm running. It was truly a family-run farm with the help of his wife, and children, and trusted farm assistants and friends. Over the years, Dick and Lucine hosted visits to the farm for schoolchildren, community residents and visitors from other countries. In 2018, the farm was sold, and Dick and Lucine retired to their new home in Atkinson to enjoy their time together.
During his life, Dick's greatest loves were his wife and family, gardening and farming. He enjoyed his life and lived fully every day. He was a former member of Holy Angels Church of Plaistow, and Mary, Mother of the Church of Newton, where he was active on the parish council and was a eucharistic minister. He was a long standing member of the NH Farm Bureau.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of seventy years, Lucine E. (Fiset) Goudreault, a son David E. Goudreault and his husband Michael Capozza of Portsmouth, R.I., a daughter, Deborah A. Goudreault and her companion John Andrews of Rochester, NH, two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Dr. Robert Perreault of Salem, NH and Cynthia and Michael Chasse, of Atkinson, two grandchildren Skye E. Mujanovic and her husband Sadmir, of Manchester, NH, and Luke R. Perreault, of Boston, a great- granddaughter, Lilijana, a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Irene Goudreault of Raymond, NH, a sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Richard Scruton of Haverhill, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours to be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow. His funeral will begin on Friday morning at 12:00pm, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00pm in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.
