Thomas Collins Obituary

Thomas John "Tom" Collins, 63, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, surrounded by family and friends at Maine Medical Center in Portland Maine.

Born Dec. 17, 1962 in San Diego, Calif., to Robert and Marie (Marcoux) Collins, he was the youngest of six. A Navy brat, his family moved often, but eventually returned home and settled in Ward Hill.

From an early age, Tom proved himself an extremely supportive friend, family member and father, always willing to lend a helping hand on any project or task, or to give a listening ear for anyone he cared for. Graduating from Haverhill High School in 1980, he spent many years in both the carpentry and food service industries. His first job at Roche's farm gave him a love for horses, and he also had strong passions for woodwork, cooking and music. Famous for his spinach pies, baked mac and cheese, wood projects and loud classic rock, Tom made sure everyone was fed and having a good time.

Survived by son Thomas Collins, son Robert Collins, daughter Christa Collins and her partner Jacob Lavallee, son Coady Collins and wife Heather Collins and son Johnathan Collins; grandchildren; sister, Catherine N. Collins; brothers, Robert F. Collins and Daniel J. Collins; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, J.R. Collins, sister Cora Sardella and sister Margaret Defeo.

Following cremation by Cremation of Southern Maine, there will be a celebration of life held on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 1 p.m., at Crescent Yacht Club, 30 Ferry St., Haverhill.

I remember Tom who was the younger brother of my friend Bob back in the 70´s. I remember him as a nice engaging kid. I lost track of him through the years; but I send sympathy to his family. Much too young to get his wings. Sorry for your loss

Tom and I reconnected a few years ago after having grown apart. He was the same kind of person I always remembered him as from the early 80's. He did some carving for me before he moved to Maine. I'm going to miss him a great deal.

Tommy had a big heart, a sensitive soul, always a hugger. He´ll forever be in my heart especially for always helping his cousin, my sister Patty.

In Loving Memory of Tom

Tom was more than a friend - he was a constant presence in my life for over 20 years. Through seasons of joy and hardship, laughter and loss, he showed up with a heart that was steady, kind, and genuine. Tom had a way of making people feel seen and accepted just as they were. His loyalty ran deep, his humor could brighten even the heaviest days, and his compassion left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Our friendship was built on shared memories, long conversations, and an unspoken understanding that true connection doesn´t need constant words - just trust and kindness. Tom carried a quiet strength and a goodness that cannot be replaced, only remembered and honored.

Though his earthly journey has ended, his spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the laughter we still hear, and the love that will never fade. I am forever grateful for the years of friendship we shared and will carry Tom in my heart always.

Rest peacefully, my dear friend. You are deeply loved and profoundly missed.
