Allen E. Massner, 89, of Quincy, IL, went to be with Jesus at 5:00 pm Wednesday, August 24, 2022, surrounded by family at his home.
Allen was born July 16, 1933, in Hancock, Minnesota, to Adolph E. and Rose Reber Massner. He married Rosemary Hoerr on December 1, 1974, at the Apostolic Christian Church of Taylor, MO.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Rosemary Massner of Quincy, IL; his children Paige Stieglitz (David) of Quincy, IL, Kip Massner of Warrenton, MO, and Chad Massner (Lisa) of Quincy, IL; grandchildren Courtney Miller (Seth), Marissa Massner, Blake Massner, Brenden Massner, Reagan Stieglitz, and Taylor Stieglitz; great grandchildren Caden, Brynlee, and Bria Miller; brothers Harold Massner, Dale Massner, and Lloyd Massner; sister Dorothy Taeger; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dorothy "Ann" Paige, eight siblings, Earl, Eric, Virgil, Kenneth, Clarence, Adolphus "Doss", William, and Rosella Obermann.
Allen served his country during the Korean War for the United States Army working as a medic. He was a kind, generous, playful, and loving man of God. He had a great sense of humor and knew how to make people feel comfortable in any situation. Allen had numerous occupations throughout his life. As a young man he was a farmer. He then transitioned to owning Midwest Childcare centers, where he had a heart for children. He finished his career as a salesman. Allen and Rosemary looked forward to fishing trips to Minnesota, catching walleye and perch. Over the years, they enjoyed trips to Florida with family and friends. His family will always remember his fun antics, tender heart, and the love he had for them.
Allen was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Taylor for many years, where he served faithfully.
Pallbearers will be Kip Massner, Chad Massner, David Stieglitz, Blake Massner, Brenden Massner, Reagan Stieglitz, and Seth Miller.
Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Church of Taylor or Apostolic Christian LifePoints, a Christian home serving those with disabilities.
Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Courtney Miller, Marissa Massner, and Taylor Stieglitz.
A funeral ceremony will be at 10:00 am Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Taylor MO. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday August 28, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Church of Taylor. All are welcome.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Blessing Hospice and Veterans Administration staff, whose care and support allowed Allen to spend quality time with his family at home.
