Ann Marie (Fuerman) Knoernschild, 91, of Muskego, WI passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday, October 18, 2021, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy, IL. Rev. Martin Eden will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Quincy.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the funeral on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Ann was born December 24, 1929, in New Melle, MO to William and Adelia (Brockman) Fuerman. She married Dr. Kenneth L. Knoernschild (Doc) on June 21, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Melle, MO. They met when she played first base on the New Melle women's softball team, and he played first base on the men's team. In 1953, they moved to Quincy, where Dr. Knoernschild practiced veterinary medicine for 37 years. They were active members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Kenneth preceded her in death on October 28, 2015.
Ann greatly enjoyed being with her husband, their children, and grandchildren. She attended countless concerts, baseball, softball, and rugby games. Ann loved her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She would often say, "You are the best thing that ever happen to us!"
She was a hard worker, and always found ways to help others. From driving a carload of kids to practice, to dropping off food for someone, to kid-sitting for friends, she enjoyed every minute of it.
Ann loved music, was a clever card player, and an avid golfer. She and Doc were lifetime members of Cedar Crest Country Club where you could often find her "hitting it down the middle." Ann enjoyed entertaining and spending time with family and friends. She was a great cook and loved to cook for people. A specialty was cookies, especially chocolate chip. She never met a dessert that she didn't like.
Survivors include her two children, Dr. Kent (Karen) Knoernschild and Ruth Ann (Bill) Rupp; four grandchildren, Ben Knoernschild, Kevin Knoernschild, Sam Rupp and Lucas Rupp; one sister-in-law Dorothy Fuerman; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother Leonard Fuerman; two additional brothers and their wives, Wilbert and Clara Fuerman, and Eugene and Jean Fuerman; and her sister-in-law and spouse, Edith and Gerald Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Kent Knoernschild, Ruth Ann Rupp, Ben Knoernschild, Kevin Knoernschild, Sam Rupp and Lucas Rupp.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
