Betty Ann Vogt, age 98, of Quincy, Illinois, died on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 3:15 pm in the Good Samaritan Home.
She was born August 25, 1927 in Hannibal, MO the daughter of James E. and Thelma Houseman Cash. Betty was baptized 5 days later on August 30, 1927. On June 13, 1948 she married Lloyd H. Vogt in Hannibal, MO. They were married for 56 years until his death on August 31, 2004.
She was a 1947 graduate of Hannibal High School and went on to attend St. John's Lutheran Nursing School. For 23 years, Betty worked as a Nursing Assistant at and retired from the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy where she also supported the AFSCME Subchapter 83 as Secretary and later worked as a CNA for Good Samaritan Home.
Betty was a member and staunch supporter of St. James Lutheran Church and School where she expressed her love of God by singing with the church Choir and her strong faith by participating as a member of the Evangelism Committee and LWML. As a lover of the game of baseball, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals, she played catcher on the St. James' senior team into her 80's. She also enjoyed fishing, especially with her granddaughter Brandy, as well as expertly frying fish for family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Luther (Theresa) Vogt of Quincy, and Terry (Donna) Vogt of Papillion, NE, 5 grandchildren, Brandy Peloquin (Steven) of Quincy, Andrew (Maylene (May) Vogt of Las Cruces, NM, Jenna Phillips (James) of Sarasota, FL, Tyler Vogt of Papillion, NE, Adam Vogt (Portia Reams and son Maurice) of Omaha, NE and 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Kate, Noah, Faith, Marlina, Armina, Axel, Jackson and Jagger.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation: 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. James Lutheran Church.
Services: 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Riley officiating. A luncheon will follow the service and procession to West Ely, Missouri will leave the church at 1:30 pm.
Burial: West Ely Cemetery, West Ely, Missouri
