Cora Del Hymes, 75, of Canton, Missouri, formerly of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Cora was born on December 22, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Wendell and Grace (Scheulen) Teitsworth. In 1965, she graduated from high school in Unionville, Missouri. On November 16, 1968, she was united in marriage to Dennis R. Hymes in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2006.
Cora was employed at the Keokuk Community School District in the kitchen for many years. She was an avid cook and enjoyed watching cooking and western shows. She was active on Facebook, often sharing and commenting. In her younger years, she was a talented bowler. Above all, Cora loved her children and grandchildren.
Cora is survived by three children: Michelle (Tony) Dye of Canton, Missouri, Scott (Cindy) Hymes of Houston, Texas, and Robert (Hillary) Hymes of Hamilton, Illinois; six grandchildren: Emily (Doug) Ellison of Canton, Missouri, Zach (Courtney) Dye of Canton, Missouri, Drew Hymes of Houston, Texas, Alec Hymes of Nauvoo, Illinois, Ella Hymes of Hamilton, Illinois, and Hudson Hymes of Hamilton, Illinois; three great-grandchildren: Boone Ellison, Sylvia Ellison and Archer Dye, all of Canton, Missouri; six siblings: Carol Sue Robinson of Conesville, Iowa, Bill (Bert) Teitsworth of Oquawka, Illinois, Jim (Eileen) Teitsworth of Mediapolis, Iowa, Ruth Ann (Terry) Oler of Lisbon, Iowa, Richard Teitsworth of Washington, Iowa, and Bob (Renee) Teitsworth of Muscatine, Iowa; her sister-in-law Sheldia Wrieden of Keokuk, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dennis and granddaughter Rylee Grace Hymes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa, with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 to 7 pm, with family meeting friends from 5 to 7 pm.
