Deborah Sue "Debbie" Goodwin Howell age 54, of Quincy died on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Quincy. Debbie was born on June 21, 1966 in Quincy, a daughter of Clarence and Jean (Hoffman) Goodwin, Jr. Debbie married John Howell, and together they had two daughters.
Debbie was an LPN currently working at Blessing Hospital as a float nurse.
She was a 1984 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and was a graduate of John Wood Community College.
A longtime member of St. Francis Solanus Church, Debbie's faith was central in her life. She was honored to have served as a Sacristan for 6:30 a.m. masses. Debbie was very close to her uncle, Fr. James Hoffman, O.F.M. A highlight in her ministry of serving others was the time she spent helping and supporting the Franciscan Outreach Program in Chicago, especially the soup kitchen.
Debbie loved her family and was devoted to them. Being together with them for the annual family trips to the Lake of the Ozarks and the yearly family picnics was always something she enjoyed and looked forward to.
Debbie had a wonderful sense of humor, and a kind spirit. When she had some free time she liked to play tennis.
Survivors include her two daughters, Amy Lynn Howell of Quincy and Jessica Erin Howell of the State of Washington; her grandchildren Elijah David Karch and Amelia Mary Mahon; her parents, Clarence and Jean Goodwin; two brothers, Greg (Paula) Goodwin and Philip Goodwin all of Quincy; her significant other and confidant Mike Walker, who is always there for her and who loved Debbie dearly; Aunts, June Winking of Quincy; Joann Elmore of Palmyra, MO and Teresa Nett of New London, MO; Uncles, Robert Hoffman of Bolingbrook, IL; Edward (Diane) Hoffman of Evansville, IN; Daniel (Cindy) Hoffman of Quincy; Danny (Denise) Goodwin of Perry, MO; Billy (Judy) Goodwin of Seattle, WA. Nieces and nephews including Glenn McGee, III and Elizabeth McGee.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Milton and Eugenia Hoffman; paternal grandparents, Clarence Goodwin, Sr., Maudie Goodwin Boleach and Wilma June Goodwin. Her aunt and Godmother Joyce (Bill) Heinecke; Aunt Bonnie Flynn; Uncles Fr. Jim Hoffman, OFM and Richard Winking; her cousins Roger and Billy Heinecke and Tony Winking.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Church. Those attending services are kindly asked to wear a face mask and follow distancing guidelines. Memorials are suggested to the Food Pantry at St. Francis, the Franciscan Outreach Program or NET Ministries. Service arrangements are in care of Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. www.dukerandhaugh.com
