Edward DURST Obituary

Edward Durst, 90, of 1330 N. 12th St., died at 6:30 a.m. Friday (March 9, 2012) in North Adams Home, Mendon.

Edward was born Oct. 16, 1921, in Quincy, a son of Louis Hugo and Edith Estell Thompson Durst. He married Dorothy Ellen Owens on Jan. 17, 1953, in Canton, Mo. She died on Feb. 15, 2007.

Edward farmed in Missouri until 1969 when he moved to Quincy and was then employed by Quincy Soybean until his retirement in 1986.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia (Riley) Pryor of Quincy; two sons, Edward (Karen) Durst Jr. of Quincy and Paul (Ginger) Durst of Camp Point; a daughter-in-law, Linda Durst of Canton; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Irene) Durst of LaGrange, Mo., and Bill (Margie) Durst of Durham, Mo.; a sister, Mary Ann Speckhart of Payson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Durst; two brothers, Sam and Dale Durst; and two sisters, Dorothy Blentlinger and Edith Shultz.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Cowman conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Columbus Road Baptist Church.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
