Edwin F. Prenger

Edwin F. Prenger, 94, of 1610 Adams, Quincy, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 5, 2011) in his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1917, in Peoria, Ed was a son of Joseph and Jessie Watson Prenger. He married Anne C. McCabe on Dec. 21, 1952, in Springfield. She died Dec. 3, 2010.

An avid outdoorsman, Ed loved boating, hunting and fishing. He was a member of Twin Oaks Republican Club, South Side Boat Club and the Elks Lodge. Mr. Prenger served his community as the Republican alderman in the 7th Ward during the 1970s and then as a precinct committeeman for many years.

Mr. Prenger owned and operated T & C Vac Store at Seventh and Hampshire for many years until his retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Joe Prenger and his wife, Diane, of Quincy, James "Jim" Prenger and his wife, Cristi, of Quincy and Eddie Prenger and his wife, Mimi, of Sedalia, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Brian Prenger, Carrie Noble (Charlie), Daniel Prenger, Lori Tunget (Paul), Michael Prenger, Matthew Prenger, Jeffery Prenger, William Prenger and Allison Prenger; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Prenger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anne; and a brother, Joseph Prenger.

SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: From 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Quincy Humane Society.
