Evelyn Clinging Obituary
Evelyn Janet Clinging, age 91, of Quincy, Illinois died Sunday, December 17th in Blessing Hospital. Evelyn was born January 20th, 1932, in Edwards, Illinois, the daughter of George Fehl and Clara Weber Slane.
Evelyn attended Elmwood High School in Elmwood, IL. Evelyn was a supervisor at Motorola in Quincy for 20 years until they closed in 1976. After leaving Motorola, she worked as a bartender at The Boulevard Club and Casino Bowling Lanes and was a CNA at Quinsippi Nursing Home until retiring in 2004. Evelyn was a very hard and dedicated worker, who was always early and never missed a day.
Evelyn enjoyed bowling, playing darts, and being with her family and friends. She was on a bowling team for many years, even attending the state tournament multiple times.
Grams amazed everyone, by never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, always making sure everyone received a card. Evelyn was of the Methodist faith.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, David Tournear and his wife Rosie of Moline, Illinois and Mark Clinging of Quincy; her grandchildren Todd Knight and his wife Christina, Michael Knight and his wife Pansy, Robert Gallaher and his wife Bettymarie, Rick Gallaher and his wife Andrea, Randall Gallaher and his wife April, James Gallaher, Lisa Gooding, Jodi LeMatty, Christopher Gallaher and David Tournear, Jr. and his wife Julia; 31 Great Grandchildren, 24 Great Great Grandchildren, and one sister Lorraine Gunter of Edwards, Illinois. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives survive.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Eleanor Curfman, two brothers in law, Floyd Curfman and Deuard Gunter, a daughter, Susan Gallaher Glore, and a grandson, Anthony Gallaher.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at 1:00. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
