Gordie SCOTT JR. Dec. 9, 1917 -- July 20, 2010 LAGRANGE, Mo. -- Gordie Scott Jr., 92, of LaGrange, formerly of Paris, died Saturday (July 10, 2010) in the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown. Gordie was born in Paris on Dec. 9, 1917, a son of C. Gordia Scott and Bessie Pauline Murphy. He attended Paris schools and served in the United States Army from May 12, 1941, to Oct. 31, 1945, in the 1st and 6th Infantry Divisions in New Guinea and the Philippines for 18 months. He was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart. He married Nadine Bradley on Sept. 19, 1950, in Moberly. She passed away on Dec. 1, 2001. He farmed for many years with his brother, Raymond, on the family farm east of Paris. He and Nadine moved to LaGrange in 1985 to be closer to his sons and their families. He was a member of the LaGrange Lions Club. Gordie is survived by two sons, Gary of Splendora, Texas, and Lary (Michelle) of Quincy, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Jana (Bill) Casper of LaGrange, a sister-in-law, Elsie Scott of Kansas City; six grandsons, Gordon Scott, Tracy (JoAnn) Scott of Miller, Gary Wayne (friend Karen) Scott of Glen Bemie, Md., Vincent (Amanda) Casper of Wichita, Kan., Joe Casper of Quincy, and Jacob (friend Kayla Cottrell) Scott of Durham; five granddaughters, Angela Edward of Lake St. Louis, Kristen (David) Goings of Durham, Karrie and Danielle Scott of Quincy, and Deena (Floyd) Towman of Buffalo, Texas; eight great-grandsons, Seth, Cole and Will Goings, Andrew Scott, Oliver Casper, August Edward and Cody and Mathew Towman; five great-granddaughters, Madelyn Scott, Elizabeth Casper, Patience Russi, Dawn Scott and Chassidy Towman. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Joe Marcus and Raymond; sisters, Leta Blanche (Oliver) Painter, Francis "JW" Reavis, Lois "JW" Dowell; a son, Charles; a grandson, Michael Ray Scott and a granddaughter, Stephanie Sue Scott. SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Paris. VISITATION: Wednesday one hour prior to services in the Agnew Funeral Home, Paris.
