James Hackler Obituary

TAYLOR, Mo. -- James C. Hackler, 66, of Taylor, Mo., died at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 15, 2010) at his farm.

Jim was born Aug. 21, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark., to Howard R. and Margaret L. Eisenberg Hackler. Jim married Joyce McGlothlin July 11, 1965, in Taylor, Mo.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Palmyra High School and a 1966 graduate of the University of Missouri College of Agriculture. He was an active member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Taylor.

Jim was a lifelong farmer and raised purebred Angus cattle on the Hackler-Eisenberg farm that is over 100 years old. He also was a partner in Northeast Missouri Farm Management Service. He was an active member of the American Angus Association and the Missouri Angus Association. He helped organize and was a member of Northeast Missouri Beef Improvement Association and Performance Tested Bull Sale. He also helped start and was a member of the Northeast Mo. Show-Me-Select Heifer Program. He was a member and past president of Marion County Junior Fair.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Meg Cone and husband, Brad, of Taylor, Mo., and Ann Foutch and husband, Jody, of Columbia, Mo.; and grandchildren, Noah Mencer of Taylor, Carter Foutch of Columbia, Madelyn and Meaghan Cone of Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Howard Hackler.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Taylor, with the Revs. Steve Martin and Peter Wehrly conducting. Jim donated his body to the University of Missouri School of Medicine for research.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. today at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra.

MEMORIALS: Mount Olivet United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.

I still think of Jim occasionally. We no longer have black angus cattle but my pasture renter does and I check on them and water 1 bunch. At times of doing chores I think of Jim doing his chores. Sorry for your loss. Gone but not forgotten. Ron

Joyce and family,
We want to express our deepest sympathy to you and your family at the loss of such a large part of your lives and many others. Jim left this world where he wanted to on the farm.
Randy and I got to know Jim through the Show-Me Heifer Sales and dealt with him for many years and it was indeed a pleasure to work with someone who cared for everyone and his Angus Cattle. He was always checking to see how things were going and that the heifers were doing well. Jim will be missed by all who knew him.

Joyce and family,
Our thoughts are prayers are with your family at this time. Jim gave me my first job back when I was 12 - 13 years old when he had pigs on our farm, built alot of fence with Jim and Bob White among many other things. Also, your family was kind enough to take me to the state basketball tourney in 1973 when my brother Bobby and Palmyra played. Many other thoughts go though my mind, but that know that God feels your loss and may he comfort your family during this time.

Joyce and entire Hackler Family:
Our sincere sympathy is extended to all..what a loss to the family and entire community. He definitely will be missed. We always enjoyed working with him, and the entire Hackler family. You were great support.
Just remember all the happy memories you have stored over the years and when you feel sad.. call one up. It will help, but not replace. You do have many happy memories.
