Mrs. Janice K. Myers, 75, of rural Quincy, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at her home.
Born February 11, 1947, in Quincy, Janice was the daughter of Leonard and Marjorie Harberts Leenerts. She married Ben H. Myers on November 30, 1991, in Camp Point, IL. He survives.
Janice was raised on a farm North of LaPrairie Illinois. She was a graduate of Central High School's class of 1965 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden where she met many of her lifelong friends. Throughout of her life Janice worked various jobs at Motorola, Electric Wheel, Bowen Seed and on the farm with her husband Ben. Janice enjoyed life on the farm whether it was cooking for the guys in the field or driving a tractor and grain wagon to the elevator there wasn't much she couldn't do. She was best known for her exceptional homemaking skills where she raised large vegetable and flower gardens. Janice took pleasure in preparing home cooked meals carried down from her mother and various family members. It is known by those who have experienced Janice's meals and desserts that no one left hungry. Janice happily shared those skills with her family and by volunteering for many years at the Golden Historical Society at the Golden Windmill. It was there she enjoyed teaching local children of all ages the "old fashion way" of processing various foods. Outside of the farm life Janice also enjoyed spending time with her close friends visiting antique shops, shopping or just simply chatting to one another. Above all else Janice truly loved her family and providing for them.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Robert Thompson and his children, Triston and Jessie. Jonathan (Melinda) Thompson, and their children, Shalico, Ezra, and Jack. Amanda Thompson, and her children, Natiaya, Dante, and Zakila. Her stepchildren, Robyn (Lois) Myers, and their children, Beau and Malarie. Stacy Barton, and her children Makenzie and Brady.
