Jeanette L. Edgecomb, 96, of Quincy, completed her remarkable earthly journey on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Good Samaritan Home - a place she filled with faith, warmth, and wisdom. Born on June 23, 1929, near Fennimore, Wisconsin, to Lewis Lee and Hedwig Marie (Rickli) Edgecomb, Jeanette's life was a beautiful testament to purpose, courage, and compassion.
A proud 1947 graduate of Quincy Senior High School, Jeanette's calling led her far beyond her Midwestern roots. After attending Ozark Bible College in Bentonville, Arkansas, she answered a higher calling that would define her life: missionary work in Liberia, West Africa. For forty extraordinary years, Jeanette shared her love of Christ through teaching, mentorship, and boundless generosity. Whether guiding children in Bible study or lending a comforting hand in times of need, she poured her heart into the people and communities she served. Liberia was not just her mission field - it was her home.
Even after retiring to a missionary retirement village in Bradenton, Florida, in 1996, Jeanette's spirit for service never slowed. She continued to shine her light by visiting and ministering to women in jail every week, offering them hope, God's word, and prayers. In 2018, she returned to Quincy, where she continued to inspire all who knew her with her unwavering faith and kindness.
Jeanette was a devoted member of Bayshore Church of the Nazarene in Bradenton, Florida, and her legacy of faith continues to ripple through generations.
She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Marcella Walton of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Inez Sapp of Hurst, Texas; nieces and nephews Mark (Susan) Goodwin, Trudy (Tim) Carroll, Becky (Mike) Monaghan, and Tammy (Mike) Howerton, all of Quincy; Ronnie (Kathy) Sapp, Dan Sapp, and Debbie Allen, all of Texas; Joyce (Chad) Severson of Crystal Lake, Illinois; and numerous great-nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her.
She now rejoins in Heaven her parents, step-parents Arthur and Hazel Fierge, sisters Cleone (Don) McClelland and Louise Goodwin, brother Clyde (Betty) Edgecomb, brothers-in-law Jerry Walton and Cleve Sapp, niece Janice Newton, and great-niece Gwen Goodwin.
Jeanette's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Good Samaritan Home for their loving care over the past seven years, and to the Fishhook United Brethren Church for more than 60 years of steadfast support for Jeanette and her missionary work.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel/Activity Room at Good Samaritan Home, with Rev. Josh Vahle officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Memorials are suggested to the Fishhook United Brethren Church - a fitting tribute to a woman whose faith truly moved mountains. Arrangements are in the care of Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

This precious saint has been a friend of our family for 60 or more years. She served our Jesus in Africa for many, many hard years, not even wanting to come home for furloughs. Sweetest friend I have known through the years. I can imagine her now walking the golden streets!!!!
