Joni L. Stockhecke, 63, of Quincy, passed away at 4:25 pm on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born on January 1, 1960, in Owensboro, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Phillip Bruce & Eugenia Mae (Friedel) Goweay. Joni married Eric Stockhecke on July 26, 1996, in Patronville, Indiana and he survives.
After high school, Joni attended Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky and later received her master's degree in library science from the University of Indiana in Bloomington. In her earlier years, Joni worked for JC Penney in the catalog department and later worked as a pharmacy technician at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She had a great work ethic and always put a great effort into any task that was put before her.
Joni was an avid reader and loved books. She enjoyed spending time with Eric and her family. Some of her interests included visiting thrift stores, watching Hallmark movies and visiting friends. Joni was a caring & loving person; her family will cherish her memory.
In addition to her husband, Eric, Joni is survived by two sisters; Jennifer (Kenny) Hardy of Gentryville, Indiana and Julie (Bill Parm) Purcell of Rockport, Indiana, Theresa Johnson of Quincy, Monica (Robert) Maynard of Mendon, Lynne' Stockhecke of Quincy, Jennifer (Kenny) Hardy of Gentryville, Indiana and Julie (Bill Parm) Purcell of Rockport, Indiana, nephews; Logan Tyler (Shelby) Brock, Chad (Paula) Maynard, Luke (Melissa) Maynard & Brian (Nicole) Lehrhoff, nieces; Camille (Justin) Hughes, Brianna Gaddy & Gretchen McClaren, great nephews; Bryce & Jameson Hughes, Benjamin Gaddy , Beau Brock, Nathan Groves, Gabe, Nick & Brody Maynard, great nieces; A'Nylah Hughes, Natalee Hughes, Paislee Brock, Ayla & Mia Maynard, Aubrey & Brynne McClaren & Kelsey Groves.
Funeral services honoring Joni's life will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Triplett Funeral Home of Mendon. Pastor Larry Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at the New Providence Cemetery in Ursa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Joni are suggested to the Mendon Congregational Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
