Kim Booth Obituary

Kim A. (Eager) Booth, 66, of Quincy, passed away Tuesday morning on February 6, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, surrounded by loved ones.

Friends and Family are invited to Kim's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Friday, February 16, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 6:00 pm to close at the Twin Oaks Club in Quincy, IL.

Kim's journey began in Quincy, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family. She was born December 20, 1957, to Jimmie and Shirley (Howlett) Eager. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1975, a place where she formed many lifelong friendships. On October 10, 1975, Kim married the love of her life, Cary Booth, at Madison Park Christian Church by Pastor John Miller. Their union was blessed with two children, Nancy Jo Booth of Asheville, NC, and Kimber Vollbracht of Quincy, IL. Kim's role as a mother was one, she embraced with all her heart, and she extended that love to her three grandchildren, Kameryn Vollbracht, Lance Booth, Logan Booth, and her great-grandchild, Maddie. Her brother, Jimmie Eager, also survives her, and together they shared a bond that only siblings can understand. She is also survived by six aunts, Fee Johnson, Lois Peters, Betty Schock, Sally Howlett, Linda Booth, and Patsy Boyd; uncles Dave Eager and his wife Donna, Huey Booth and his wife Lucille, and Gary Booth; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kim's professional life was spent in the service of others, working as a dedicated cook for Blessing Hospital. Her caring nature and culinary skills brought comfort and nourishment to many over the years before retiring in January 2022.

Outside of work, Kim's interests were diverse and reflected her zest for life. She liked fishing and boating, relishing the time spent on the water. Shopping was more than a pastime for Kim; it was an adventure. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

A competitive spirit, Kim played darts with friends at the Dock and bowled for two decades with her league at Casino Lanes. Her love for gaming extended to the slots, where she celebrated her wins with infectious enthusiasm. Travel was another passion, and she and Cary would often embark on spontaneous trips, letting a coin toss decide their next destination.

Music brought joy to Kim's life, with soft rock and early rock 'n' roll tunes by artists like Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, and Engelbert Humperdinck providing the soundtrack to many happy moments. A lover of mystery and crime novels, she could often be found engrossed in a book or enjoying her favorite TV shows, Dark Shadows with Barnabas Collins, Judge Judy, and Days of Our Lives. Kim enjoyed dining out at local favorites like Kelly's or Tower Pizza, or for a refreshing beverage she frequented Stubby's Tavern, Twin Oaks Club, and Rocky Point Club. When she cooked, she was known for her special dishes like fried chicken and pork steak.

Kim's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
