Leona Ann (Bentzinger) Hinton, 74, of Emma, MO passed away peacefully at her home on April 23, 2021.
Leona was born April 30, 1946 in Plymouth IL, the eldest child of Robert L and Dorothy (Miller) Bentzinger.
She was united in married to Ronald D Hinton on December 10, 1967. She was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ in Concordia, MO and the American Legion in Sweet Springs, MO.
As a child, Leona had the distinction of attending a one-room schoolhouse where she skipped a grade as she was the only girl in her class. She later graduated from Warsaw High School, Warsaw IL in 1963 and Gem City College in 1964. Leona's hobbies included baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and playing solitaire. She recently learned to play bridge. She was a devoted MooMoo to her grandchildren, whom all adored her.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; one son, Ronald L (Roxanne) Hinton of Sweet Springs MO; two daughters, Deanna (David) Quinn of Kansas City MO and Michelle (Christopher) Black of St Joseph MO; and nine grandchildren, Ben, Doug, and Zack Schneider, Tori Hinton, Allie and Olivia Quinn, and Karleigh, Kamille, and Kellan Black.
She is also survived by her sister, Karen (Roger) Bisby; brother, Lyle (Mary Ann) Bentzinger; sister-in-law, Vickie Bentzinger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert A Bentzinger.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 1 at Monticello United Methodist Church, Monticello MO at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Monticello Methodist Church.
