Linda McNay Obituary

Linda L. McNay, 70, of Quincy, IL, passed away at 11:25 am Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her home.

A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Pastor Marty Pressey will officiate. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL.

Friends and Family are invited to Linda's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Friday, January 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy.

Linda was born April 11, 1951, in Quincy, IL to Clayton and Betty (Durbin) Jones.

She was married to Donald G. McNay on January 12, 1973, at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy, IL. They had just celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary earlier this month. Donald survives.

In addition to her husband, survivors include four children, Melissa (Jason) Fritz of Clermont, FL, Jennifer McNay of Quincy, IL, Brent McNay of Quincy, IL, and Kent McNay of Grand Rapids, MI; four siblings, Barbara (Roy) Specht of Quincy, IL, Larry (Karen) Jones of Quincy, IL, Connie (Jeffery) Smith of Quincy, IL, and Randy Jones of Keokuk IA; seven grandchildren, Lyndzey, Landra (John), Lauraleigh, Britney (Seth), Nathan (Kisha), Abbigayle (Abbey), and Molly; and four great grandchildren.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her father in-law, George McNay, and mother in-law, Hazel McNay.

Linda worked as a health care professional for 47 years at Blessing Hospital (previously St. Mary Hospital). She held several positions over the years, including nurse's aid, surgery tech, and home health aide for their daughter.

Linda was a woman who loved being outdoors. She spent plenty of time camping in her 5th wheel at the Mark Twain Campground. Linda also enjoyed traveling, with Michigan and Florida being her favorite destinations, especially if a pool was involved. While in Florida, she would make sure to stop and visit Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, and of course Disney World, as well as their resort. However, as much as Linda loved to travel, she could enjoy her favorite meal of chicken wings and margaritas anywhere. Linda also collected Precious Moments and was said to have close to 1,000 figurines! She was even part of their club in the '80s. Linda was also a big fan of music from the '60s and '70s, but Elvis was her all-time favorite. You could often catch her singing along, even if she didn't know the words. Her grandchildren were her everything and she loved every moment she spent with them. Linda will be missed by everyone who knew her and will be remembered for her kindhearted nature.

Linda was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Home Services Program, which allows Illinois residents with disabilities to receive the care they need in their homes rather than in an institutional setting.
