Paul Richard Menke Jr. passed away comfortably at home on November 14, 2025, after living with dementia for many years. Paul, originally from Quincy, Illinois, graduated from Quincy Senior High School and later Western Illinois University. After earning his degree he went on to build a remarkable career as a jewelry designer. His artistic legacy lives on through designs he created for James Avery and Kabana.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Rosalind and Paul Menke Sr. He is survived by his spirited wife of nearly 52 years, Sue Menke known to him affectionately and always as "Phweetie"; his son, Patrick Menke, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Menke; his daughter, Amber Menke, and son-in-law, Jarrid Young; his grandchildren, Maddison Menke, Kaiden Menke, and Nolan Young; his brother, Mark Menke, and sister-in-law, Patty Menke; as well as his nephews, Mark Menke Jr. and Michael Menke.
Known for his quiet nature and generous heart, Paul made holidays and milestones magical for his family. In retirement he found joy in Sunday walks and attending church, sketching imaginative drawings, and savoring chocolate milkshakes. He was admired for his brilliant mind, wry humor, artistic aptitude and the thoughtful touches he brought to everyday life.
His absence leaves a quiet ache, but his love remains woven into the memories and lives of those he touched.
In lieu of a traditional funeral, the family will host a Celebration of Life in March 2026 to honor Paul's memory.
