Richard L. Deweese, 74, of Liberty, died on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Blessing Hospital.
He was born on January 2, 1947 in Rock Island, IL. He was the son of Robert Deweese and Eva Rupert Wellman. Eva, along with her husband, Frank E. Wellman, Sr., raised Richard. He married Jan Miller on May 19, 2001. She survives.
Richard was a truck driver for many years for Hannibal Quincy Truck Lines and then later for Roadway Express until his retirement. He currently was employed as a truck driver at Gully Transportation. While at Roadway, Richard received the Million Mile Award for having no accidents in that many miles.
Richard loved antique cars and received numerous awards for his cars from car shows. In his younger days, he raced stock cars and most recently loved to watch his great-grandson race go-carts, quarter-midgets, and mini-sprints.
Richard was a loving and compassionate family man who always went the extra mile for his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his mother, Eva Wellman; three children, Aneta Peters (Dean) of Quincy, Shane Deweese (Natosha) of Mendon, IL, and Cheyenne Deweese of Liberty; five grandchildren, Darin Peters, Crichette Gower (Joey), Daelin Deweese (DeAngelo), Kenzie Deweese and Adalyn Deweese; four great-grandchildren, Thalia Peters, Taylin Peters, Paxton Gower and Paizlynn Gower; siblings, Jean Ann Lantz (Bill) and Frank E. Wellman, Jr. (Bev); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
Richard was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather; and a sister, Nancy Scheufele.
Private family services will be held. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made for the educational fund for his daughter Cheyenne. Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

I sure remember the stock car from back in the day, #4, my dad worked with Richard and Ducky on it, those were good times. So sorry for your loss.
