Robert C. Leckrone

1929 - 2017

RUSHVILLE, Ill. -- Robert C. Leckrone, 87, of South Roxana, formerly of Rushville, passed away and went to be with the Lord at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.

He was born June 7, 1929, in Lincoln, a son of the late Charles E. and Mary M. (McGregor) Leckrone. He married the former Edna Bubb on June 2, 1972, in Arkansas. She survives.

Robert attended Shurtleff College and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He was employed as a draftsman at Shell Refinery for 41 years prior to his retirement. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in South Roxana. He loved to fish and hunt.

In addition to his wife, Edna, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in law, Rita and Tom Kinney of Petaluma, Calif., and their sons, Tom Kinney Jr. and Jesse Kinney, and Linda and Karl Kilgore of Denver, Colo., and their sons, Kyle and his wife, Dalen, and Kameron; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Annette Leckrone of Rushville, and their sons, Nick and his wife, Leanna, and Brandon Larsen; four great-granddaughters, Cortnee, Madelyn, Harlie and Molley; a brother-in-law, Carroll Bubb of Hartford; many nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends from the Shell Refinery family and Bethel Free Will Baptist Church family; and his hunting friends, Lee Rapp and Lyle Ruff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Leckrone; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Leckrone, Betty McCombs and Janice Hardwick; and a brother-in-law, Darrell Bubb.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, South Roxana, with Pastor Ricky Ham conducting, and 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at the church.

MEMORIALS: Leckrone Scholarship at Welch College or Bethel Christian Academy Scholarship Fund.
