Stephen Edward "Archie" Campbell, 73, of Bowen, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Archie was born May 13, 1949, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Clyde and Ruby (Smith) Campbell. In 1968 he entered the United States Navy at nineteen years old and served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. He retired in 1989 as an E-7. On October 12, 1973, he was united in marriage to Donna Graham in Meridian, Mississippi. She survives. After his retirement from the Navy, Archie worked as a truck driver for Brian Gaines Trucking retiring in 2012. He also worked as a farmhand in the area. Archie enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was active in Fishing for Freedom.
Archie is survived by his wife, Donna, of Bowen; sons, Robert Campbell and Donald (Dixie) Campbell, both of Bowen; grandchildren, Stephanie Lee Campbell, Jorden Irwin, and Faith, Hope and Johnny Egley; great grandchildren, Alexis, Clayton and Adrian; siblings, Patrick (Catherine) Campbell of Bowen, Patricia Lynn (Kent) Bacon of Smyrna, Delaware, Yvonne (Daniel) Mielke of Montgomery, Alabama and David (Kim) Campbell of Bowen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Mary Campbell; and a nephew, P.J. Mielke.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday evening at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Memorials may be directed the Bowen Veteran's Memorial. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
