Sterling L. "Bob" Johnson, age 93, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 1:21 p.m. in Timber Point Heathcare Center in Camp Point, IL.
Bob was born December 12, 1926 in Labelle, Missouri, a son of Rodney and Wava Lee Mullinex Johnson. He married Dorothy Mae Dixson on November 12, 1949 in Lewistown, MO. She survives.
Bob had worked as a machinist for Gates Radio Company for 21 years. After that, he ran the water department for the village of Clayton for 15 years. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed collecting coins, working on small engines, fishing, and camping.
In addition to this wife, survivors include six children: Earl (Nancy) Johnson of Noblesville, IN; Hila (Joe) Leenerts of Herrin, IL; Bobbie (Connie) Johnson of Fowler, IL; Vickie (Kevin) Georges of Albuquerque, NM; Dana (Teresa) Johnson of Camp Point, IL; and Billy (Pat) Johnson of Clayton, IL; 12 grandchildren: Randall (Jackie) Johnson of Orient, OH; Angela (Brian) Douglas of Louisville, KY; Joanna Stotts of Quincy; Jessica (Kelley) Loos of Quincy; James Leenerts of Quincy; Chad (Katie) Johnson of Kansas City, MO; Brian (Kristie) Johnson of Quincy; Kyle (Jennifer) Georges of Albuquerque, NM; Nicole ( Russell) Smith of Albuquerque, NM; Bridget (Shane) Arnold of Liberty, IL; Brock (Neal) Johnson of Hannibal, MO; and Dakota Johnson of Clayton, IL; 20 great grandchildren; his brother, Dean Taylor of Florence, AZ; a half brother, Lester West of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, four brothers, and his daughter-in-law, Brenda Johnson.
