V. Maxine Stock

1923 - 2017

V. Maxine Stock, 94, of Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Quincy, died at 4:59 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017.

Maxine was born April 5, 1923, in Moberly, Mo., a daughter of Edith Roberts and Charles Shipley. She was married on June 6, 1948, in Quincy, to William "Bill" Stock, who preceded her in death.

Maxine and her husband owned Bill Stock's Distributing Co. in Quincy where she was a kitchen and bathroom designer. She was also a professor of business at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees at Quincy College and Ph.D. in business from Florida State University. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ at Brazito, Mo., and an active member in its Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Quincy, where she directed the cherub choir and the youth summer Bible school.

Surviving are daughters, Janese Neher, of Jefferson City, Sondra Gilmore of Louisburg, Kan., and Babette Elese Stock of California; grandsons, Stock and Max Neher of mid-Missouri; granddaughter, Shannon Bryan and two great-grandchildren, Audry and Jack Bryan of Louisburg; and nieces and nephews, Sue Moody and Charles "Butch" Shipley of Jefferson City and Gloria Burton of Moberly.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Stock; a daughter, Dr. Lori Ruth Stock; a brother, Charles "Buck" Shipley; and a grandson, Johnny Bryan.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Friedens United Church of Christ in Brazito (9522 Pleasant Hill Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109) with lunch following. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Greenmount Cemetery, 1701 S. 12th, Quincy.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, to Maxine Stock Memorial Fund or Friedens United Church of Christ in care of the family.
