Donna Carole Isom was born on Dec. 10, 1938, to Roy and Orlenia Thomas of Corning, Ark., and received her eternal reward on March 5, 2022. She graduated from Corning High School and then attended Harding College, earning a degree in Home Economics. While at Harding College, she met Allan Isom and the two were married July 2, 1961.
Carole began her teaching career at Harding Academy in Memphis, where she taught three years. After moving to Searcy, she taught first grade at Harding Academy for 17 years. Carole had a passion for teaching children how to read and she instilled a love for learning. Favorite memories of former students include the wooden clubhouse, the classroom plays and beginning each day by singing, "This is the Day that the Lord Hath Made."
Carole had a servant's heart and a loving spirit. If she wasn't teaching a Bible class, she was taking food to others, sending cards and calling others to give words of encouragement. She had many friends who were dear to her heart and loved spending time with them playing Bunco, celebrating birthdays and studying God's Word.
Carole loved her family, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her treasure. She was never too busy to play games, read poems, make forts out of refrigerator boxes, conduct turtle races and host amateur art sales on her back deck. They never left the house without a hug, kiss and a reminder of how proud she was of them.
A passage from Proverbs 31:26-31 – "Her mouth speaks wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: many women have done noble deeds, but you surpass them all! Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. Give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates."
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Orlenia Thomas; sister, Wilma Thomas; son, Danny Isom; and daughter, Alana Isom Rose. Carole is survived by her husband, Allan Isom of Searcy, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Debbie Isom of Searcy, Ark.; daughter, Susan (Ben) Henry of Hurst, Texas, and daughter Jeanne Burks (Stephen) of Searcy, Ark.; one sister, Norma (Carter) Dorris of Lexington, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and one on the way.

What a wonderful Christian lady. Our children, like so many others, were blessed to have Carole teach them as they began their school years. She was perfect for that young age. They started with the best. Such a loving sincere heart.

Alan I am so sorry you lost your sweet wife Carol. You may not remember me but you used to buy us a cake in the Supercenter pharmacy. I usually was up front waiting on you. God rest your hurting heart but we know she has gone to a wonderful place.
