Emo Whitmire Obituary

Emo Whitmire, 94, of Searcy passed away Friday, Nov. 5. at her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Griffithville, Ark., to the late Carl and Madge (Johnson) Vandiver.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Judith Diehl (Ron) and Nancy Whitmire (Noel); one stepson, Curtis Whitmire; five grandchildren, Jayme Slayton, R. Martin Shoffner, W. Corbitt Shoffner (Ashley) and Melissa Shoffner; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Shoffner and Natalie Shoffner; and two brothers, Jimmy Vandiver (Almeda) and Ray Vandiver (Judy).

In addition to her parents, Emo was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Rushin; her second husband, Robert Whitmire; one grandson, Alex Shoffner; and four sisters, Rachel Garner, Merna Bohannon, Patsy Fitch and Joy Lewis.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Kensett First Baptist Church. Funeral services will start at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Kensett First Baptist Church with burial following at White County Memorial Gardens. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
