Gerald Wayne Redd Sr., 80, of Searcy passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at his home. He was born on Feb. 5, 1945, in Jonesboro, Ark., to the late Esker and Mary (Painter) Redd. Gerald worked for several years in insurance sales and received various sales awards.
Gerald was also a graduate of the ministerial intern program with the Church of God and attended Southwest Assemblies of God University. He pastored for many years and went on to pastor three different churches during his time of ministry. He loved people and never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as "Father Hen" due to his strong desire to take care of others. Family was very important to Gerald, and he loved them dearly. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Spending time with family was something that he cherished.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillis Redd; sons, Gerald Wayne Redd Jr. (Alondra) and Jeromy Redd (Shari); grandchildren, Aiden Redd, Ashton Redd, Jude Redd and Penelope Redd; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and sisters, Glenda and Caroline.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Searcy Church of God, 1131 S. Main St., Searcy, AR 72143. Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are entrusted to Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
