James Morris Yoast, 78, passed away Jan. 28, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Margie Yoast, and his wife, Phyllis Jacobs. He is survived by his brother, Michael Yoast; children, Jayme Yvonne Harvey and Timothy Shannon Yoast; grandchildren. Jaclyn, Michael, Elizabeth, James and Catherine; and great-grandchildren, Raiden and Jaxin.
James is a graduate of Searcy High School, class of 1963. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Fighter Squadron 74 (Be-Devilers) aboard USS Forrestal (CVA-59), with follow-on tours at Naval Air Stations Oceana and Dallas and Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1991 and worked at Raytheon Aircraft in Little Rock, Ark., until 2010.
James' favorite pastime was fishing in Lake Barnett. In his younger years, before Lake Barnett was formed, he spent many summer days in the Des Arc Bayou. His ashes will be laid to rest at that location at a future date.
