Ronald Douglas (Ron) Coleman passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 27, 2024. Ronald was born on Nov. 30, 1951, in Shreveport, La., at the Highland Sanitarium to his parents, Oscar Steward Coleman and Flo Scarborough Coleman, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Stephen Andrew Coleman of Dallas, Texas.
Ronald graduated from Searcy High School in 1969. Ronald enjoyed growing up in Searcy and made lifelong friends as a result.
Ronald graduated from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., in 1973 with a degree in accounting. While in college, Ronald was selected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Alpha Chi and the National Accounting Honor Society, Delta Mu Delta. In addition, in his senior year, his team won the 1973 National Championship of the Emory University Intercollegiate Business Games in Atlanta, Ga. As a senior at Harding, Ronald was also honored with the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award. This distinction is awarded to graduating seniors with the highest-grade point average in their graduating class.
After college, Ronald became a Certified Public Accountant before the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. Additionally, he was recognized as associate in risk management by the Insurance Institute of America. Ronald also found time to serve his country through the United States Naval Reserve Program.
Upon his retirement, Ronald returned to Arkansas to reside in Hot Springs Village. It was the perfect setting for him as an avid golfer with an abundance of courses available to him. In addition, Ronald treasured his reconnection and lunches with his classmates from the 1969 Searcy High School Class, including Robert Taylor, Lu Hardin, George Carder and many others.
Ronald loved '60s and '70s music, golf and spending time with old friends.
A memorial service for Ronald will be held at Roller Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Ark., on May 6, 2024, at 11 a.m.
