Mrs. Nancy Jane Bowman Duggan, 78, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023.
She was born on April 4, 1945 to the late Col. Harry Guy Bowman and Katharine Stout Bowman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Bruce Bowman and Roger Bowman.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Duggan; and her cherished children, Christopher Sean (Kelli) Duggan of Boulder, Colorado, Gregory Alan (Ginger) Duggan of Winter Park, Florida, Angela Kara Duggan of Casselberry, Florida, and Amanda Jo Duggan (Jonathan Mellor) of Riverview, Florida. Her memory will forever live on through her grandchildren Alec Duggan, Lucy Lees Duggan, Rylan Duggan, and Anabel Duggan.
Nancy was a retired educator from the Lake County School System in Leesburg, Florida, where she touched the lives of many with her passion for learning. A proud graduate of Florida State University, she was a distinguished member of the Mortar Board (honorary group) at Florida State and Gold Key Honor Societies, as well as the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Her commitment to education continued after retirement, she was an active volunteer in the White County School System and a member of the White County Library Association.
Devoted to her community, Nancy was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and played a vital role in various charitable endeavors, including the White County Food Bank and the Sautee-Nacoochee Association.
Nancy's creativity knew no bounds, as she had a deep passion for pottery. In addition to her teaching career, she ran a small pottery business, leaving behind beautiful creations that will forever serve as a testament to her artistic soul. Above all, Nancy's pride and joy were her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her unconditional love and support were the foundation upon which her family thrived.
In honoring Mrs. Nancy Jane Bowman Duggan, let us remember her for the positive impact she made on the lives of those around her and the lasting legacy of love, education, and community service she leaves behind.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024 at Georgia Mountains Unitarian Universalist Church.
