Dr. Scott Embry Hancock
April 26, 1955 - Sept. 11, 2025
Dr. Scott Embry Hancock, 70, of Sautee, Georgia, passed away on Sept. 11, 2025, after courageously battling Stage 4 cancer for four years.
Scott was born on April 26, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky. He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Hancock; his two sons, Grant Hancock (Lindsey) and Seth Hancock (Haley); and his six beloved grandchildren: Embry (10), Ella (8), Hayes (5), Corley (4), Walker (2), and Truett (2).
Known as "Pahpaw" to his grandchildren, Scott treasured nothing more than sharing the joy of farm life with them. Whether hitching up the horse and buggy for rides, bottle-feeding lambs, or relaxing by the river while the kids played, his Nacoochee Valley Farm was always a place of laughter, learning, and love.
Professionally, Scott was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with a lifelong passion for equine medicine. After graduating from Auburn University, he owned and operated his own practice for 23 years. Later, he worked with the U.S. government on bioterrorism prevention before moving into the private sector with Boehringer Ingelheim, where he served as a Professional Services Veterinarian until his passing. To his colleagues, he was "Dr. Hancock," a respected expert known for his knowledge, dedication, and integrity.
In his community, Scott was simply "Doc." He was deeply involved in Sautee, where he led two barn raisings, the most recent in February 2025. With friends, family, and neighbors coming together to build a barn in a single day, Scott's vision, energy, and leadership turned ideas into reality.
Above all, Scott's life was guided by his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He ministered to hundreds over his lifetime, traveled on more than a dozen mission trips to Romania, and shared his gifts both globally and locally. Whether bringing lambs to the church's Easter celebrations or hitching up a horse to churn ice cream at church festivals, Scott's faith was lived out through service, joy, and generosity.
Scott's life is celebrated in the legacy he leaves: a man of integrity, honor, deep love for his family, and steadfast devotion to Christ. He used his talents and passion to further God's Kingdom on earth, and his impact will be felt for generations to come.
