Floyd Steig Obituary
Floyd Steig went to be with his wife,Betty Jane Steig May 23, 2024 with a quick battle of cancer. Floyd was born in Bowman North Dakota to Gilbert (Junior) and Maye Steig, April 10 1940, oldest of 3 children. Floyd attended school in Bowman and graduated in 1958, he worked on the family dairy and was active in FFA. After graduation he attended trade school in Wahpeton, North Dakota for auto mechanics.
In 1959 Floyd joined the Navy and was aboard ship on the USS Rockbridge during the Cuban missile crisis, and was mostly stationed in Puerto Rico until discharge in 1963. Floyd met is wife Janie in 1957 and after the Navy they were married October 12, 1963 in Bowman. From North Dakota to California and then settled in Whitefish Montana, which produces 4 children, a house, and a 33 yr. career at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Company where he retired in 2003. Janie passed away in June 2012.
He is survived by brother Roger and wife Pat if Minnesota, sister Lynn of North Dakota, daughters Barbara McKay and Kris Steig of Whitefish, Jeri Murinko and husband Vaughn of Spirit Lake Idaho, and son Brian and wife Mandy of Kalispell, Montana. 7 grand children and 4 great grand children. Graveside service will be held on July 20th at 11:00 A.M. at Whitefish City Cemetery. Austin Funeral & Cremation Services is caring for the family.
