Judith Spivey Obituary

Judith Spivey, 94

Judith Elliott Spivey, lovingly known as Judy, passed away in Lexington, Kentucky, on March 22, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy defined by curiosity, courage, and an unwavering zest for life. Born in 1932 in South Pasadena, California, to Charlie and Grace Elliott, Judy grew up with a spirit that would never be content standing still.

Judy was, at her core, an adventurer. She never chose the easy path or the familiar road when there was something new to explore just beyond it. Whether it was traveling to faraway places, embracing the beauty of the outdoors, or simply saying "yes" to the unexpected, she pursued life with bold enthusiasm. To Judy, adventure wasn't something reserved for special occasions-it was a way of living. She believed the world was meant to be experienced fully, and she carried that belief with her wherever she went.

Her love of adventure was matched only by her many talents and passions. An accomplished pianist, Judy had a remarkable ability to find the perfect song for any moment, often filling rooms with music, laughter, and connection. She had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in nature's beauty, whether in quiet reflection or shared with those she loved.

Judy and her beloved husband, Don Spivey, enjoyed a life of adventure, living in California, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, Connecticut, Alaska and Germany, before finally settling in Whitefish, Montana, where they spent their final 35 years.

Judy will be remembered for her relentless cheerfulness, her resilience, and her ability to bring lightness even to life's most difficult moments. She had a gift for lifting others up, often with a song, a story, or a well-timed bit of humor.

She is survived by her four children, thirteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward a piece of her adventurous spirit and joyful heart.

Judy's life serves as a reminder to say yes more often, to seek out wonder, and to never shy away from the unknown. She chose adventure over the familiar time and time again-and in doing so, she created a life rich with stories, love, and unforgettable moments.
