IOWA CITY, IA – Leslie E. "Pete" Williams, age 86, of Erie died Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.
Leslie was born on July 28, 1939 in Louisiana, MO the son of Leslie and Francis (Smith) Williams. He married Rose Nuzzi on March 11, 1963. Leslie later married Shirley Williams on October 13, 1984. He served his country for 20 years from 1956 – 1976 in the United States Navy. He was then employed as the head of Maintenance for the Village of Lyndon. Leslie was a volunteer on the Lyndon Fire Department from 1979 - 1991. Leslie enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming and traveling.
Survivors include daughter, Tracy (Billy) Ebensberger of Albany; three sons, Joseph (Susan) Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, Ron Williams of Lyndon and Terry (Kathy) Williams of Rock Falls; step-son, Miles McClintock of Rock Falls; step-daughter, Monica McKown of Davenport, IA; one sister, Marjorie Gibson of Beaver Dam, WI; one brother, Lyndon (Maren) Williams of Tucson, AZ; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Cato;& step-son, Mark McClintock.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be held the following day at the Rock Island Arsenal.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Tunnels of Towers.
