Doug married his high school sweetheart, Joan, in 1966. They moved to Chicago where Doug began working for Bridgestone/Firestone and where he was still employed at the time of his death, having given 45 hears of service. After 17 years in the Chicago area, he was transferred to California and spent the next 29 years in Covina. In April, Doug and Joan moved to Four Seasons in Beaumont, California to embark on the life of retirement.

Grateful for his devotion to his family and having shared his life are his wife of 46 years, Joan; two sons, Michael of Channahon, Illinois and Steven of Star, Idaho; two daughters, Christine Bernier of Mission Viejo, California and Karen MacArthur of San Dimas, California; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Perri, John, Charlsey, Grayson, Seth, Joey and Gage; daughter-in-law, Tracie MacArthur; son-in-law, Richard Bernier; brother, Darrel MacArthur of New York and a multitude of extended family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merlyn.

Greatly missed by all who loved him, he will forever be in our hearts as a loving husband, father, grandfather and good friend as well as a loyal and honorable man.

Dear Joan and Family, as your next-door neighbor, we had the opportunity for short little visits with you and Doug a number of times before he was diagnosed. Just like you Joan, we thought there would be pleanty of time to develop a friendship but unfortunately, that was not to be. Words are so inadequate when expressing sorrow for you and your family's loss but, we are so very sorry. Let us be a neighbor you can call on. We keep you and your family in prayer, Ed and Kathy Stout
