Alvin Harding Obituary

Alvin W. Harding, age 90 died on April 9th in NYC. Born Aug. 6, 1926 to James and Adeline (Mountain) Harding he attended Somerville High School and met his soon to be wife Margaret (Solari). Alvin and Margaret had four children and were longtime residents of Arlington. A Marine Veteran, Alvin served in WWII and the Korean War. He served in the battle of Iwo Jima and celebrated the 70 year anniversary in 2015. Attending Brown University Alvin had a career as an Architect. As a young man he was a jogger, tennis player and baseball player. He entertained many friends and family members with his guitar and piano playing, and singing their favorite songs. Alvin and Margaret took trips to New Hampshire and Cape Cod and shared many happy memories with close friends. Preceding him in his death are his wife Margaret, son David, brother Charles (Winston) and sister Doris. He is missed by his surviving daughters Pamela, Jan Leslie and Suzanne and granddaughter Chayda along with lifelong friends. As per his wishes, a private ceremony of family members will place his ashes alongside his wife and son at Pleasant Street Cemetery in Arlington in June. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
