Arthur (Artie) D. Effren, cherished father, father-in-law and grandfather, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 15, 2012, at the age of 89. Artie was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Abraham and Pauline Effren. He is predeceased by his wife, Mildred, brothers Mac and Herman, and sister Sophie. He is survived by his brother Ronald, of Deerfield Beach, Fl, his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Ellen Effren, of Ashland, MA, his grandson Jay and his fianc, Leigh Gillis of Marlborough, MA, and his granddaughter, Hilary, of Boca Raton, Fl. He is also survived by his nephews. His family, especially his grandchildren was the center of his life. He was a retired toy salesman, WWII veteran, amateur musician, and skilled cartoonist. Almost all who knew him went away with a smile. A private burial will be held in New Jersey, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Mildred. Shiva will be held at the home of Jerry and Ellen Effren on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 6-9 PM.
