Luis A. Rodriguez, age 40, a former longtime Framingham resident, died in a drowning accident while in Ecuador on December 30, 2011. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, on March 11, 1971, he was a son of Ramona Moncha Colon of Framingham and Jorge Luis Rodriguez of Puerto Rico. He was raised and educated in Framingham and was a graduate of J.P. Keefe Technical High School. While in school he excelled in sports, particularly in baseball, basketball and track. Luis was a multi-talented man and was employed as freelance laborer for much of his career. He never lost his love for sports and played until recently with the adult softball league in Framingham. Luis was an exuberant man with a ready smile, loved a good joke and spread his warmth wherever he went. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, Jose Manuel Rivera; a son, Felix Estrada of Ashland; two daughters, Caridad Lopez and husband Kevin of Ashland, and Sugeiry Rodriguez of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Anais, Christian, Heriberto, Aryana, Joeliel, and Kailanie; a brother, Gustavo and Iris Febus of Framingham; two sisters, Yoly Rodriguez of Boston, and Joelie Rivera and Omar Velez of Framingham; his former wife, Jackeline Valentin of Ashland; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Thursday, Jan. 12th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Stephen Church, 221 Concord Street, Framingham, at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Stephen Cemetery.
