Janet Robbins

Janet Robbins, passed away June 16, 2013 at the age of 96 after a long life and a battle with failing health, after a bad fall in December, 2011. Janet was born and raised in Brockton, MA and was a member of the class of 1935 at Brockton High School. She continued her education and graduated from Katherine Gibbs in Boston. She began her very successful business career at the Bank of Boston as a loan officer after graduation. As her career grew, she became an Assistant Vice President, responsible for managing executive travel arrangements for the Bank. In this capacity, she became a leader in the business travel industry and traveled the world in order to assure the finest quality travel for the Banks senior officers. When she retired from the Bank in 1985, her reputation in the industry quickly drew her into the world of travel consulting which she did for several years, primarily for Donald Sohn and his prestigious Heritage Travel Company in Boston. As she often said I had the best job anyone could have had. She fashioned her career while caring for her parents in Brockton and later Easton until their passing. She moved to Cape Cod in the early nineties to return to her familys roots by the sea. As was Janets personality, she became active in her retirement community at Kings Way in Yarmouthport and served on many committees until she moved back to Brockton in 2012. During her retirement years, Janet was a snow bird and spent most of her winters in her Condo at Marco Island, FL. Janet follows her parents, Marshall and Emily Robbins and her two brothers, Allan and Philip in death. While never married, she leaves behind a large extended family of eight nieces and nephews and their four children and their families. A graveside service is scheduled at Mosswood Cemetery, Putnam Avenue, Cotuit on July 13, 2013 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA, Boston, MA or the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boston, MA.
